Cha Cha Plank Challenge
Try the Cha Cha Plank Challenge. Post your photos or videos to google classroom.
DodgeBall
You need at least 2 players, or make 2 teams. Split the room/garden into 2. Gather up some soft items- e.g. balled up socks, scrunched up newspaper. Place an equal amount of the soft items on either side of the room/ garden. You have 1 minute to try and get rid of all of the items on your side by throwing them into the other side, while the other team does the same. After 1 minute, stop and count the items on your side. The team that has the least amount of items on their side wins.
Blanketball
This game should be done outside. You will need a blanket, a ball, and 2 players. Each player holds the blanket up by 2 corners, creating a hammock for the ball. Players work together to throw the ball into the air and catch it again with the blanket. See how many times you can do it in a row without dropping the ball on the ground. Try to beat your best score each time.
Throw-Clap and Catch
For this game you need any size ball, tennis or football. Throw the ball up and clap your hands while the ball is mid air. Then try and catch the ball before it hits the ground. The aim of this game is to see what is the most amount of claps you can get before the ball hits the ground! A clue for this one- throw the ball as far but as straight as up can. That way you have the most time possible for clapping and you also can stay in the one spot.
Through the gate
For this challenge you need a ball and two cones or markers (even two jumpers). Make a goal with the jumpers as wide as you like. The aim is to kick/roll or throw the ball through the goals. If you have a partner get them to stand the other side of the goals. Count how many goals you can get or see who can get to 10 first. To make it more difficult, stand further back from the goals or make the goals smaller! If you are doing this challenge on your own do it up against a wall so the ball comes back to you!
Bowling ball
For this game you need a water bottle and a football. The aim is to try and get the ball and knock the water bottle by kicking/throwing or rolling. Count how many times you can knock the bottle. Make it harder by kicking/throwing or rolling over a longer distance.
Tennis ball challenge
If you haven’t got a tennis ball you can use a football or any sized ball. Get a timer and set the timer at 1 minute. Stand back 3 metres or 5 metres from the wall depending on age. (Maybe try 3 metres first). The aim of this is to try to throw and catch the ball as many times as possible in a minute.
Walk the line
Use string chalk or even your kitchen tiles. Pretend you are in the circus. You are walking the tightrope. Make the string about 10 metres long and walk from one end to the other. If you step off you have to start again. Older children try to turn on the rope mid way through to make it harder. Then see how many times you can go from one end to the other in 10 goes.
Fun Races
Set up a start line and a finish line in your garden. Challenge your family in some of these fun races:
- Egg and spoon race (Or spud and spoon!).
- Sack Race.
- Teddy Bear Race (Each person holds a teddy bear between their knees and runs to the finish line without dropping the teddy bear).
- Water race- For this race, you need one large bucket of water at the start line, an empty bucket/ container/ bowl (of equal size) at the finish line for each player, and an equal sized cup for each player. Players must transfer water from the big bucket to their own container at the finish line using their cups. The first person to fill their container wins. (This game can also be played using sponges to transfer the water instead of cups).
